NOTES:
Text Selection:
- Select the text you want displayed by checking/unchecking the checkboxes next to the text name.
- You can change the order in which the texts are displayed by selecting a text (i.e. clicking on its name) and then pressing the "Up" and "Down" buttons.
- Press OK to save your changes.
NOTES:
If a Hebrew text (currently BHS is the only Hebrew text available) is placed at the top of the display order (i.e. it is first in the list) then the columns will flow from right-to-left. Otherwise columns flow from left to right.Verse Selection:
- Select the verse reference you want displayed by selecting book, chapter and verse from the listboxes.
- Press OK to jump to the selected verse.
NOTES:
Currently, typing in the Verse Reference edit field doesn't select the matching book, chapter and verse in the listboxes. In fact, any text entered in the Verse Reference edit field is currently ignored. The only way to jump to a particular verse reference is to select book, chapter and verse using the listboxes. This (serious) limitation will be removed in the next release of StudyBible.
In order to display the BHS text, use is made of the wonderful SIL Ezra font, provided by Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL). The SIL Ezra font isincluded in the installation package. Note, however, that part of SIL'slicense and usage terms specify that the font may not be included in commercialapplications. StudyBible is completely free, and may not be chargedfor. Nor may you sell the SIL Ezra font, or otherwise use it forprofit. If you are unsure, check the details of SIL'slicensing policy for yourself.
If you are interested in doing your own text processing, you should download the entire SIL Ezra font package.
Thanks are due to SIL for making a superb font package freely available. The SIL web site was my first introduction into the wonderful world of the electronic BHS, and their pointers and tools have served me very well.
The BHS text module contains a formatted and indexed form of the BHS text (in Michigan-Claremont encoding) available from the Oxford Text Archive. SIL provide detailed instructions on how to obtain the Michigan-Claremont BHS text from the Oxford site.
JR Software develop and maintain a high quality, full function, free Windows installer program called Inno Setup. Inno Setup was used to create all of the installation images for StudyBible. Many thanks to JR Software for a wonderful tool.
